Os Vikings realizaram, no passado Domingo, o primeiro jogo de pre-época em 2008. O adversário foi a já por demais conhecida equipa dos Halcones de Vigo, uma das melhores que os Vikings já tiveram oportunidade de defrontar.
Apesar de incapazes de conter o poderio ofensivo do line-up espanhol, os Vikings realizaram um jogo tranquilo, tendo em conta as evidentes limitações de início de época. Destaca-se o home-run de Jorge Castañeda e as exibições consistentes dos pitchers André Silva e Sérgio Martins, que foram capazes de conceder segurança à equipa por alturas em que esta, no passado, já fraquejou. O resultado final foi de 17-4 a favor da equipa espanhola.
Após este jogo, recomeça o regime de treinos habitual dos Vikings, às terças e quintas, pelas 21h30, no campo de futebol de Retorta, e ao sábado, pelas 15h00, na Arena.

Past Sunday, the Vikings had their first pre-season game of 2008. The opponent was the well known Halcones de Vigo team, one of the best the Vikings ever played against.
Although unable to contain the power of the Spanish line-up, the Vikings made a calm game, taking into account the known limitations that arise from the beginning of the season. One should note Jorge Castañeda’s home-run and the consistent pitching of André Silva and Sérgio Martins, who were able to grant safety to the team in moments where, in the past, it has shown weaknesses. The final result was 17-4 in favor of the Spanish side.
After this game, the regular training schedule restarts, with practices at Tuesdays and Thursdays, by 9h30 pm, in the football field of Retorta, and at Saturday, by 3h00 pm, in the Arena.
